Pashmina Shawls:
Pashmina Shawls are hand-embroidered in Kashmir. Kashmir lies in the Valley of the Himalayas, surrounded by the highest mountains in the world. Kashmir was one of the important trade routes between east and west. Although it has a long history of political upheavals, the people of Kashmir have kept the art of shawl-weaving as one of their best forms of artistic talent.
Rugs:
The technique of chain stitch is that of continued stitch of embroidery work all over the cloth, not by a needle but by a hook called 'Aree'. The cloth used as the base is masked by the continued stitching. Kashmir is the main center for chain-stitch rugs. The featured Rugs are made of cotton base with silk chain stitch embroidery covering the entire surface of the rug. The embroidery done on the rugs is coarse in comparison with the fine embroidery done on traditional Kashmiri shawls.These rugs are real master pieces of art.
